Day Treatment

What is Day Treatment?

Day Treatment consists of 6 hours per day group and individual therapy, up to five days per week. This program is designed for those who need additional structure, support, and supervision in order to sustain or stabilize their recovery process. Individuals who are transitioning from inpatient, Detox or residential treatment can also benefit from the individual and group therapy intensity that this program offers. We provide drug testing at regular intervals during the program to ensure compliance with sobriety requirements.  New Dawn understands that relapse is a regular part of recovery, and unlike most other programs, we do not discharge clients who relapse.  We help them minimize the effects of their relapse, and work with them to get them back on track in their recovery.

What Happens after Day Treatment?

Our Day Treatment participants will step down into the Intensive Outpatient Program, usually after a few weeks. This step down process is important because relapse rates average about 60% for individuals in treatment. Continuation of treatment in a less intensive outpatient program gives individuals a lot more freedom to explore recovery on their own, and to test their abilities to stay sober without constant supervision and support. However the three hours of individual and group therapy offered Monday – Friday offers a minimum level of stability and support to make lasting recovery possible during the transitional phase back into normal life outside of an intensive treatment structure.

Does My Insurance Cover Day Treatment?

In most cases, insurance will cover most if not all of your treatment at New Dawn, regardless of which program or level of care you are enrolled. The reason for this is that we are one of  the few CARF accredited programs in Sacramento, and most insurance companies will not partner with a treatment provider unless they have an accreditation, even if they are licensed by the State of California.  Before you admit into any of our programs, we will verify your insurance benefits for you and let you know if you have any out-of-pocket costs associated with your treatment. We do not accept Medicare, Medical, Tricare, or Kaiser.

We are a local drug and alcohol treatment provider, with program locations servicing areas in Sacramento, San Francisco, Roseville, Marin and Placer County, California.
