The mindfulness meditation group is based on a combination of theory, practice, and process.
Each group begins by examining conceptually what mindfulness meditation is, and how it applies to and is beneficial for recovery. Instruction is offered on how to practice mindfulness meditation. Then, as a group, we apply the teachings of mindfulness meditation to formal, silent or guided seated meditation, as well as practice walking meditation or mindful movement. Each individual in the group has the opportunity, then, to share what it is that is coming up during meditation, or in life in general, as they go through the exercise. When facing the reality of the present moment, what feelings, thoughts and physical sensations arise? And, how can we practice mindfulness to help work through these feelings, thoughts, and physical sensations? These are just some of the topics of discussion in this enriching class.
