Some examples of these proven therapy techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as well as introduction to 12 Step philosophy, Smart Recovery, Life Ring, and other sobriety related support groups. We make sure all of our counseling staff are experts on all of these therapies by providing both online and live trainings on a regular basis. Our private chefs makes delicious and nutritious snacks, desserts, and main courses according to each resident’s specific food preferences. We understand that the food you will be eating is an extremely important part of the healing process, and therefore we use only the freshest organic ingredients. Our highly skilled chefs can also prepare delicious vegetarian, vegan, diabetic friendly and gluten-free options upon request. All the meals are plated restaurant style, and our Registered Dietitian will work with you in choosing healthy food options during your stay.
At New Dawn, our education groups are based on the nationally recognized and clinically proven Living in Balance (LIB) program. This holistic approach to relapse prevention has a primary focus on helping clients learn how to make informed decisions in everyday life in order to regain balance and prevent the chance of relapse from ever happening. The LIB program teaches participants how to:
LIB is so effective because it teaches clients how to become their own relapse prevention coaches. Clients will receive training on coping skills and stress reduction strategies, as well as guidance about alternative paths to enrichment and other options for achieving life experiences that are both healthy and rewarding.
Our holistic view of recovery involves focusing on healing a person’s whole being, and is based on our fundamental belief that the recovery experience needs to enrich one’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness in order to be truly successful in creating positive and lasting changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Our whole person approach also believes that each individual is completely unique in his or her needs, struggles and life experiences. Therefore we provide a variety of holistic services provided by licensed and/or certified specialists, such as: yoga, massage therapy, equine therapy, acupuncture, daily exercise at Cal Fit, art therapy, music therapy, outdoor activities, mindful meditation and nutrition counseling. Our residents may participate in some or all of these experiential groups as often as they want, and there are never any added charges for these services.
