Addiction Treatment in Reno, NV

Residential, Detox, & Outpatient

Addiction treatment in Reno should feel personal — because recovery is. New Dawn Treatment Centers has been family-owned and operated since 1987, and our Reno programs carry that same standard of care: medical detox, residential treatment, and outpatient support, all delivered in a warm, home-like setting by a team that knows you by name.

Wherever you’re starting from, we’ll meet you there and walk with you through every step of the journey.

Addiction Treatment Programs in Reno

At New Dawn’s Reno locations, recovery is always personal. Whether you’re stepping into residential care for the first time or continuing your progress with outpatient support, our programs are built to meet you where you are. Every level of care is grounded in trauma-informed treatment, holistic healing, and individualized attention, so you can focus on building a life free from addiction.

Medical Detox – Your First Step to Recovery

For many people, recovery begins with detox.

When substances like alcohol, opioids, or benzodiazepines are involved, withdrawal symptoms can be physically and emotionally intense – so attempting to stop without medical supervision can increase risk and make relapse more likely.

At New Dawn’s Reno location, medical detox is provided in a calm, residential setting with 24/7 clinical oversight. Nursing staff are around to monitor your symptoms closely – managing your discomfort safely, and providing stabilization during your earliest stages of recovery.

Detox is not rushed or treated as a standalone event.

It is the first step in your continuum of structured care.

Once medically stable, clients will transition directly into residential treatment, where therapy and holistic supports can immediately get started. This seamless progression reduces disruption and helps to build early momentum in recovery.

Residential Treatment: A Safe & Supportive Home

Our residential program gives clients the chance to step away from daily stressors and fully focus on healing. With separate housing for men and women, clients benefit from the privacy and safety that gender-specific living provides, creating environments where it feels easier to open up and engage in treatment.

In residential care, our clients receive:

  • Daily support from licensed, master’s-level therapists on-site
  • Trauma-informed therapies, including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and CBT
  • Holistic supports like yoga, mindfulness, and equine therapy
  • Chef-prepared meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
  • Comfortable, home-like settings designed for rest and reflection

Here, clients find the stability and structure they need to heal, while also gaining the tools and confidence to maintain recovery long after treatment.

Outpatient Treatment: Flexible Care for Real Life

Not every client needs 24/7 residential care, and some are ready to step down after completing it. That’s why our Reno facility also offers outpatient programming.

Outpatient care gives clients the flexibility to continue their recovery journey while rebuilding routines at home, work, or school. With access to the same trauma-informed therapies, holistic supports, and family integration as residential treatment, outpatient care provides structure without removing independence.

And with free transportation to and from our outpatient programs, clients can focus on recovery without worrying about logistics.

Addiction Treatment Services in Reno

Addiction affects everyone differently, which is why treatment at New Dawn Reno is always personalized. Programs blend trauma-informed therapy, holistic supports, and structured routines to address both the physical and emotional sides of substance use.

Each substance has its own challenges, and care is tailored accordingly.

Alcoholism Treatment

Alcohol use often becomes woven into daily routines, stress management, and social life. Over time, it can erode emotional stability, relationships, and physical health, even when it feels manageable on the surface.

At New Dawn Reno, alcoholism treatment focuses on more than managing cravings. Clients step away from triggers and begin rebuilding healthier coping strategies in a supportive, home-like environment. Therapy helps identify patterns, address underlying stress or trauma, and establish routines that support long-term sobriety.

Fentanyl Addiction Treatment

Fentanyl’s potency creates intense physical dependence and a high risk of overdose. Cravings can feel overwhelming, and stopping without support is often unsafe.Fentanyl addiction treatment at Reno begins with stabilization and medical oversight when needed, followed by structured therapy that helps retrain the brain’s reward system. Clients work on rebuilding confidence, safety, and coping skills while receiving consistent support from their care team.

Heroin Addiction Treatment

Heroin use can take over both physical functioning and emotional well-being. Many people feel stuck in cycles of cravings, withdrawal, and shame that are difficult to break alone.

Heroin addiction treatment at New Dawn Reno combines medical support, therapy, and structured care to help clients regain control. Through consistent treatment and peer support, clients begin restoring balance, rebuilding daily routines, and moving toward a more stable life.

Cocaine Addiction Treatment

Cocaine use often disrupts emotional regulation, sleep, and decision-making. The highs can be followed by crashes that increase anxiety, depression, and impulsive behavior.

Treatment for cocaine addiction focuses on retraining behavioral patterns, managing triggers, and rebuilding emotional stability. Experiential therapies and structured support help clients regain confidence and develop healthier ways to cope with stress and stimulation.

Methamphetamine Addiction Treatment

Methamphetamine can significantly impact focus, motivation, and the brain’s ability to experience pleasure. Over time, everyday life may feel flat or disconnected.

Meth addiction treatment at Reno blends trauma-informed therapy with holistic supports to help restore motivation and emotional balance. As dopamine levels stabilize, clients begin reconnecting with meaningful activities and building routines that support recovery.

Benzodiazepine & Prescription Drug Treatment

Benzodiazepine dependence can make daily functioning feel impossible without the medication. Withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, and physical tension often require careful supervision. At New Dawn in Reno, clients with benzodiazepine addiction stabilize safely before transitioning into therapy that addresses the emotional and behavioral roots of use. Over time, symptoms fade, and clients regain independence, clarity, and confidence in daily life.

Dual Diagnosis

Mental Health & Dual Diagnosis Care in Reno

Substance use is rarely the whole story. Many people entering treatment are also living with anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health challenges that have shaped how they cope with stress, relationships, and daily life. When those concerns aren’t addressed, recovery can feel unstable or incomplete.

At New Dawn Reno, mental health care is fully integrated into every level of treatment. Therapy focuses on how emotional health and substance use interact, so progress in one area isn’t undermined by neglect in another. Care is individualized, trauma-informed, and paced to support long-term stability rather than short-term relief.

Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety can show up as constant worry, racing thoughts, or panic — and substances often quiet it briefly, then make it worse over time.

Anxiety treatment at New Dawn Reno focuses on nervous system regulation, grounding skills, and practical coping strategies, helping many clients feel steadier and better equipped to handle life without relying on substances.

Depression Treatment

Depression can drain motivation, energy, and connection, and it’s common to use substances to escape numbness or emotional pain.

Depression treatment at Reno focuses on rebuilding structure and emotional balance at a pace that feels realistic, helping clients regain motivation, confidence, and hope over time.

Bipolar Disorder Treatment

Bipolar disorder brings significant shifts in mood, energy, and behavior, and substance use often develops as a way to manage the extremes — worsening instability over time.

At New Dawn Reno, bipolar treatment is integrated directly into addiction care, focusing on mood patterns, emotional regulation, and steady daily routines so both conditions can stabilize together.

ADHD Treatment

ADHD affects focus, impulse control, and follow-through, and substances are sometimes used to boost concentration or quiet racing thoughts.

Treatment at New Dawn Reno emphasizes structure and practical tools — time management, attention strategies, and impulse regulation — to strengthen engagement in recovery and long-term stability.

OCD Treatment

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) involves intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors that reinforce each other, and substance use may develop as a way to quiet the distress.

At Reno, OCD treatment is woven into dual-diagnosis care, focusing on thought patterns, reducing compulsive behaviors, and building tolerance for discomfort — so reliance on substances often decreases.

PTSD Treatment

PTSD can affect sleep, mood, concentration, and a person’s sense of safety, and symptoms like intrusive memories or hypervigilance often drive substance use.

Trauma-informed PTSD care at New Dawn Reno is paced for safety, using therapies such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) when clinically appropriate to process trauma without overwhelming the nervous system.

Trauma Therapy

Not every trauma leads to a PTSD diagnosis, but unresolved experiences often operate beneath the surface of addiction.

Trauma therapy at New Dawn Reno rebuilds emotional safety and resilience, treating trauma and substance use within the same plan to build a stronger foundation for lasting recovery.

Why Choose New Dawn in Reno

I went into New Dawn for Detox. It was an "in-house", 7 day program. I was extremely nervous and had a very high level of anxiety. My first day was on a Monday. Of course there is an intake process and an in person meeting with their doctor. That is when I was informed that a person in detox did not have to attend the group meetings. I again was stuck with a decision to make. Do I just sit around for 7 days and go through my own experience with detox? Or do I get over another round of fear and anxiety? I chose the ladder and went into the group room with no idea what to expect. Without going into detail, there were 7 other people going through their own rehab. By the end of my seventh day I had met some very strong people and made some friends for life. I know that my journey will be very difficult at times, but every single one of the staff members at New Dawn has helped the start of my journey tremendously. If you feel like you've come to a point in your life where you need help. Please reach out to them. I would not have the hope that I feel right now if I had not reached out to them.

New Dawn did what I thought was impossible to do. They freed me from my physical addiction to Alcohol. They provide a clean and safe professional and comfortable environment to do something that can be very I uncomfortable despite what the addiction of the person may be. The staff and therapists were professional and supportive as well as informative. The food was good and I am still sober today. I was there through the 4th of july weekend. I would recommend them to anyone seeking to start a new beginning free from addiction.

New Dawn saved my life. The therapist is an awesome human being. The counselors were relatable, kind, and very good at teaching me the skills I need to recover outside the home. The structure was organized but not military rigid. It’s a beautiful home and I strongly encourage anyone even considering whether they need treatment or not to just realize this is a WONDERFUL place to start your recovery and build a foundation to stay in recovery once you re-enter the real world! Thank you Brian, Marlie, Morgan, Paul, Evette, Joanne, Skye, Joanne, Manahl, Kaytlin, Casey, Tim and Fransisco for being a part of my journey and giving me the opportunity to turn my life around. I love you all and I love the program you have for people that are seeking help.

Yes. Dual diagnosis care is integrated into every level of treatment in Reno, so conditions like anxiety, depression, and PTSD are treated together with substance use rather than separately.
