Care starts with a free pre-admission assessment that determines your level of care, then follows an individualized plan through the full continuum. Depending on clinical need, that path can include:

• Medically supervised detox for safe withdrawal management
• Residential treatment in a six-client, men's only home
• Day treatment and intensive outpatient programming as you step down
• Outpatient care and lifetime aftercare for ongoing support
• Medication-assisted treatment where it's clinically appropriate

You work with a master's-level therapist and a certified drug and alcohol counselor from day one, with on-site psychiatric support for medication management.

Men often speak more openly in a room of peers carrying similar pressures around work, providing, fatherhood, and asking for help. A single-sex setting lowers the social guardedness that can slow clinical progress, and it makes room for honest conversation about identity and relationships. We also run a dedicated track for veterans and first responders, led by a master's-level veteran therapist.

We offer 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day residential programs, and the right length is a clinical recommendation rather than a fixed rule. Medically supervised detox typically takes 5–7 days when it's needed. Many men do best with a longer overall commitment, often 30–60 days of residential care followed by roughly six weeks of intensive outpatient programming, then aftercare.

Your plan draws on both evidence-based therapies and experiential therapies, matched to what you're working through. That includes CBT, DBT, and ACT; trauma-informed approaches such as accelerated resolution therapy (ART), EMDR, and brainspotting; individual, group, and family therapy; and experiential options like equine and alpaca-assisted programs, yoga, tai chi, art therapy, acupuncture, and massage.

Yes. When a mental health condition sits alongside a substance use disorder, we treat both in one integrated plan rather than in sequence. Dual diagnosis care includes psychiatric evaluation, medication management where appropriate, and trauma-informed therapy. Mental health care at New Dawn is always delivered alongside a primary substance use diagnosis.

Many plans include behavioral health benefits that cover addiction treatment, and we're in network with a range of major carriers. You move into aftercare and alumni support, which includes free weekly counselor-facilitated groups for life for clients who complete at least a 30-day residential program or a 6–8 week IOP. Relapse prevention work continues in those groups, alongside peer connection and alumni events. Men who complete a 90-day residential program are also eligible to return for treatment at no cost if they relapse within a year.
