Treatment for Women
A Women-Only Approach To Addiction Treatment
Here at New Dawn Treatment Centers, we know that women often carry the weight of work, family, and everyone else’s needs long before they make room for their own. For some, that pressure turns into a reliance on alcohol or drugs just to get through the day.
Our women’s programs are gender-specific from the ground up. Accommodations, meetings, and groups are all women-only, not a single track or house inside a co-ed program. We pair evidence-based therapy with holistic practices, building each plan around the individual so care addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
According to a 2022 survey from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), 94% of women living with a substance use disorder did not think they needed treatment. If you’ve been putting yourself last, our team can help you take a first step, starting with a free insurance verification.

- Clinical assessment: A clinician recommends your starting level of care, from medically supervised detox or residential treatment to intensive outpatient, plus dual diagnosis care if you’re also managing depression, anxiety, or trauma.
- Scheduling: We’ll confirm your arrival date and what to bring. Our admissions page covers the details.
- Arrival: You’ll check in, complete a brief health screening, and meet the women’s clinical team. If detox is part of your plan, it starts right away under medical supervision.
- Your first few days: You’ll settle into your home, where capacity is limited to six clients, review your treatment plan with your team, and join groups at your own pace.
Gender-Specific Treatment
Why Choose a Women’s Only Rehab?
When New Dawn’s expert medical team develops a client’s addiction treatment plan, they thoughtfully consider her personal history, life pressures, and goals for recovery.
Women typically enter treatment with a focus on different experiences, expectations, and trauma than men. Women may have experienced trauma around their gender, as it is common for women to experience inappropriate actions at work, unequal biases in society, and an imbalance of responsibilities at home. Women are uniquely affected by trauma such as domestic violence, physical abuse, sexual assault, and verbal abuse. Women may feel more comfortable sharing these issues with peers who understand these experiences, and this, in turn, allows them to open up faster in the recovery process. In addition, there are specific treatments and modalities that help women heal and rise above their past experiences to experience a new and brighter future.
Meaningful progress happens when women have privacy, safety, the proper tools, and a sense of community. In our women-only residences, clients are given a safe space to rest, reflect, and fully focus on their healing journey. Our women’s residences are designed to provide comfort, stability, and a sense of home, helping daily life feel both familiar and supportive. Each home hosts no more than six women, ensuring every client receives the individualized clinical attention she deserves while also fostering connection and reducing feelings of isolation. Private rooms are also available at some locations.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
A women's drug rehab is a gender-responsive program where addiction and mental health treatment happen in a women-only setting. Care typically includes medical support, evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, and accelerated resolution therapy (ART), and a step-down continuum. Ours runs from detox and residential care through PHP, IOP, and outpatient services, all under one provider.
Residential stays are commonly 30, 60, or 90 days, followed by PHP, IOP, and outpatient care. Your length of stay depends on clinical need, your progress, and what your insurance authorizes. Your team reviews the plan with you as you go rather than setting it once and leaving it.
Comfortable clothing, essential toiletries, any current medications, and your ID and insurance card cover most of it. Many women also bring a notebook and a few photos from home. We'll go over specifics with you during admissions so you're not guessing.
Yes. A women-only setting changes what people feel able to talk about, particularly around trauma, motherhood, relationships, and caregiving. We run separate men's and women's programs for that reason, so groups stay focused on what the people in the room are actually navigating.
Many plans cover detox, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient services. We're in network with carriers including Aetna, Cigna, Anthem, Blue Shield, Optum, UnitedHealthcare, Kaiser, TriCare, TriWest, and the VA. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan, so we'll verify your benefits for free before admission.
Treatment plans draw on evidence-based approaches like CBT and DBT, trauma-informed work including ART, and experiential therapies such as yoga, art therapy, and equine therapy. Medication-assisted treatment is available when it's clinically appropriate. Your plan is built around your history and goals, not a fixed curriculum.
Most women step down through a lower level of care rather than leaving treatment all at once. You'll build a relapse-prevention plan with your team and can stay connected through our aftercare and alumni community, which is where a lot of the long-term support actually lives.
